Designing your Own Piece?
If you are a designer, please carefully review our art submission requirements to get an idea of what we need to print a high quality piece. Here are a couple more guidelines to help you as well:
-
Layout:
- Setup the front and back sides of the card as two separate pages (do not create both sides in a single file or page)
- Size your piece according to the sizing chart below
- Ensure all critical text, graphics and logos are a minimum of .125 inches from the edges of the card, so they don't get cut off when trimmed
- We recommend you don't put a border around the edge as it may not look even on all sides when cut down
- Sizing:
- Standard Postcards - 4.25" x 6"
- Oversized Postcards - 5.5" x 8.5"
- Business Cards - 2" x 3.5"
For sizing on other pieces, email our production department.
- Artwork & Graphics:
- All art files, including backgrounds must be at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi
- Art files must be in the following file formats:
- Do not use artwork pulled from the web as it will not look sharp in the final printed piece.
Scans
If you use a scanner, be sure to scan the art or photographs as close to the final size as possible and scan them at 300-350 dpi. Be careful scanning another printed piece because it may show the dots from the printing.
Stock Art
We keep a library of stock art here at BOOM! and we will do our best to provide you with an image. There are also a number of websites online where you can review and purchase art for yourself. Some of them are listed below. Remember that you are looking for "print-quality" art (300-350 dpi.) so make sure you get the right file. Also, we recommend you buy royalty free art so you can use it again and again without paying more.
